The Shipwreck Coast
The name chosen by the local tourism authority some years ago and does not really do justice this section of the Victorian coast. Flanked by some of Australia's best agricultural land, the coast features delightful sandy beaches, dramatic scenery and interesting history. The sea and surf that wrecked ships over 150 years ago are now the attraction and towns and cities along this section of the coast have become the most popular visitor destinations in the state. Our guide will give you an insiders view of this section of the Ocean Road.
Warrnambool owes a lot of its popularity as a holiday destination to its main beach, possibly not as well cared for as it should be, (compared to Queensland beaches) but still one of the best beaches along the coast .
Described as one of the best playgrounds in Victoria, the Lake Pertobe Adventure Playground is a year-round family attraction. Covering a total of 20 hectares, the playground is paradise for kids with giant slides, flying foxes, a maze and boat rides.
